I'm a very lucky gal. My boyfriend surprised me with tickets to see Pink tomorrow night. She's one of my favorite artists but I have never been able to see her live, and now I am! I'm so excited.
Pink has some really good songs. Like, some really amazing songs. Most people don't hear them because they are typically not her singles (although we did get Try and Just Give Me A Reason as radio hits!). But for the most part, a lot of her best stuff goes unheard, unless you own her albums. So I've decided to treat you to my 10 favorite Pink songs. Some you've all heard, some you may not have. Sit back and enjoy this Tuesday tunes.
10. Who Knew. I'm sort of sick of this song now, but I still like to belt it.
9. Misery: an awesome duet with Steven Tyler.
8. Funhouse.
7. Try. The message behind the song as well as the emotion she puts into it makes it a gorgeous song.
6. Long Way To Happy. Always loved this song. Pink has had some issues.
5. Just Give Me A Reason. How can you not love this song? Both Pink and Nate Ruess are flawless on this track!
4. Don't Let Me Get Me. A little old school Pink for ya. I loved this song back when it was big. Mostly because I was an awkward freshman in high school and I felt like this song defined me. Also, when I had to do a project in college about my adolescence, I referenced this song.
The Great Escape is from her latest album and it's just goregouse.
3.
2. The One That Got Away. No words, just listen.
1. Glitter in the Air. Her most beautiful song, hands down.
I haven't done a Tuesday Tunes post in a while. And I'm not supposed to do Weight Loss Wednesday until tomorrow. But this week, they go hand in hand.
Because today, my friend and former American Idol contestant, Melinda Doolittle, released a new single. It's the first original song we have heard from her in a while (she released an amazing Christmas song last year) and so it's kind of a big deal. Melinda is an incredible vocalist and amazing person who has been in my life since I was 19. I am so proud of her and was ecstatic for this single, especially after reading her blog about the meaning of the song, which is titled "Never Giving Up". You can read the full blog here, but the snippet that hit home for me was:
Even when life takes a different path that I could have ever imagined, I will always be a big dreamer and I won’t give up until it happens. The song focuses on love, but really it’s about life. It’s about knowing myself and what I’m capable of, and not letting anything…the words people say, how hard the journey is, how delayed the winning seems…make me stop the fight. I’m so much stronger than people give me credit for and I refuse to give up on ANYTHING.
I relate those words to my weight loss journey. The weight hasn't been dropping as fast as I had hoped. I, at times, am frustrated with myself. The two weeks where I was in and out of the hospital visiting my dad plus the three weeks with bronchitis really set me back and I even thought about throwing in the towel. But I didn't, and I pushed on when I could. Because I cannot, and will not give up until I am at my goal. Melinda's song is helping me with that. I have two favorite lyrics:
"Even if the fall leaves me broken, even if you tell me it's hopeless, I'm never giving up".
"My whole life in front of me, I won't stop until I see. I'm never, I'm never giving up".
The first one is a reminder that I will have days where I slip or fall, and times where I am broken and feel like I can't do it anymore. Or others might tell me it's hopeless. But I still can't, and won't give up. The second one hits home a little harder. Because before my weight loss journey, I really didn't care enough about myself to get healthy and to live a good life. But now, I see that I have a whole life ahead of me, so many adventures waiting to happen. And I am certainly not going to let those pass me by, and I am going to be healthy enough to dive full force into those adventures.
With all of that being said, I am very happy to announce that I have lost 19.5 lbs. Can we just go ahead and call it 20? Please? Probably not but it's damn close! I am trying to lose at least 3 more lbs before my next period so I don't stress out so much when I gain 5 lbs overnight thanks to mother nature.
I am noticing definite changes now. My face, tummy, and butt are smaller. My chest is smaller, too. My arms are much stronger, my thighs are much stronger. I am faster. I have more endurance. Before the Hanson show we did a 1 mile walk for a good cause and I wasn't tired, at all.
I did want to share a recipe I made over the weekend. It's SUPER easy and fast, and cheap.
Ingredients (this is for 2 people):
2 Chicken Breasts
Pepper
2 Tomato Slices
2-3 Slices Avocado
2 Slices of the cheese of your choice (I picked pepperjack, Mozzarella would be good also).
Olive Oil
Pour 1 tbsp of olive oil in a pan and cook the chicken (I season it with pepper). Once the chicken is cooked, place in a baking dish. On each piece of chicken, put 1 slice tomato, 1-2 avocado slices and 1 slice of cheese. Bake in the oven at 350 for just a few minutes, enough for the cheese to melt.
Face shot. Left side is from June, right from just last week. I can def see a difference around my eyes, chin, and cheeks.
The body shots are below. Having a hard time getting them to go side by side. The first is from our girls trip in July. The second is just a few weeks ago. I can't quite get an accurate full body shot (will try to do so next week) because I rarely take those pics and the one here is with me in a long skirt, so it may not be an accurate photo. But, if you look at the tummy region, you see a big difference.
Have a good rest of the week! I'll be back sometime before the weekend, I'm sure!
I know most of my facebook pals will see the title of my blog for today and decide not to click on it. It's probably not something that interests them. They, unless they are an Idol fan, do not know who Erika is. But if you clicked out of curiosity, I thank you. Because I want to introduce you to Erika.
This is Erika. Watch.
Yeah. She has a killer voice, right? Right. She was on American Idol Season 11, eliminated far too song, has mega talent and a loveable personality. She's chill, hard working, and passionate.
I want you to consider donating to her Kickstarter. She's working incredibly hard to make her debut album, independently, and needs all the help that she can get. She is trying to raise 20,000.
Why should you, someone who doesn't know Erika, donate? Because if you believe in music, if you believe in a girl who is working her tail off to get some good music out there, it will be worth it. This girl has pipes, but more than that she lives and breathes music. So I know, I just know, that this album will be incredible.
If you are reading this and you know me, Megan, then let me add a little personal twist to my plea. Erika is one of my favorite contestants ever. Her season was one of my favorites. I loved pretty much everyone, but especially Erika, Josh, and Elise. Erika was special in that she had this incredible energy level about her, it was obvious how happy she was to be on the show, and she was always gracious. That summer, when the Idols went on tour, I took my mom to see the show. Erika's solo performance, which I posted above, was a cover of Pink's "Glitter In the Air". That, my friends, was my choice solo for her. I desperately wanted to hear her do it on tour, and she did. It was beautiful, and gave me goosebumps. It's my favorite Pink song because it describes anxiety to a tee, and if you follow the blog closely you know by now how much anxiety consumes my life. So for Erika, one of my favorites, to sing that song, it helped me to know that I was not alone. Later that summer, I had my tonsils out. Now I know this seems silly to a lot of people, but my recovery process took a HUGE toll on me. Laying in bed for three weeks, not eating, not sleeping, and not talking really does something to a person. I fell into a really, really weird funk. I did not feel like myself, I felt lazy and sad. I wanted out of my own skin. It was one of the strangest things I have ever gone through. At the same time that this was happening, I was going through a rough time with a guy who I thought really liked me. We had been talking, and the day of my surgery he never once texted or called to wish me luck or ask if I was okay or needed anything. Then a few days later, he puts on Facebook that he's in a relationship with some other girl. So I was already miserable and lonely from the tonsillectomy, and then this was added on. But who was there? Erika, and her best friend Jessica, who I had connected with via twitter. Erika was there for me in the musical sense- I would YouTube tour performances of "Glitter in the Air" and watch interviews from tour. She was so happy and so confident, full of zest. Jessica and I would have lengthy convos, and to this day Jess will never know how much that friendship meant to me. She didn't even know about my guy troubles, she just knew I wasn't feeling my greatest. I'll never forget those few weeks, and can honestly say that the two of them saved my summer, even if it was from a distance. Back then I didn't have Lauren and Sam, I really didn't do much socially. Erika and Jessica helped turn around my attitude, make me feel whole again.
So yeah. Please, please, please consider donating to Erika's kickstarter. I know how it is. Money is tight. I'm in that position also. I wish I could donate more to this project, which is why I'm reaching out to my family, friends, and blog readers to consider chipping in. Even $10 will help.
Erika, rock on girl. I am ecstatic to hear "Hurricane" when it is released and I will do what I can to fully support the album and your music. Thank you for everything.
The Civil Wars are a fascinating band. To bring you up to speed, they are a male/female singer-songwriter duo who met in Nashville back in 2008. Their first studio, full length album was released in 2011, and they won two Grammy's for that album. Their songs have been featured on Grey's Anatomy and they were the opening act for Adele on her national tour. They partnered up with Taylor Swift for a song off The Hunger Games soundtrack, which they also won a Grammy for. They are very folky sounding, known for their use of instruments and raw vocals.
The fascinating thing is that the two have been in a tiff for a while. Neither have said the real reason, just using the whole "creative differences" line. In fact, they weren't speaking while making the album that was released today, and still aren't speaking. Joy has said they likely won't tour for this album because of the fight between them. Joy has been more vocal where John Paul seems to have gone into hiding.
Guys, something went down. And although we don't know what it was, it was big. And this album portrays the hurt, sadness, and even anger that both have felt.
It's like Fleetwood Mac all over again.
Here are my four favorite tracks from this self titled album. It's one that you really need to put on and listen to, full length, but I'll give you some snippets.
The One That Got Away
Devils Backbone
From This Valley
Oh Henry
Also, the lovely ladies Jill and Kate released a live album today. It's pretty awesome, especially because their commentary is in it as well, and they are giddy and excited in between each song. The album truly shows off their powerful vocals. These two gals are mega talented and super sweet. They are so good to their fans and so passionate about music. Check out this live album if you want to hear some great music. Here's two tunes I particularly enjoy:
If you haven't sat and listened to a Sara Bareilles (why is her last name so hard to spell?) album in it's entirety, you are seriously cheating your ears out of a treat.
Sara is incredible. Both her eloquent lyrics and powerful vocals make her an outstanding artist. Plus, she's kind of geeky and goofy, and always speaks her mind and has a bit of a potty mouth. I've always related to her because many of her songs touch on the topic of anxiety and fear. I appreciate that she can put those feelings into words and song.
Her latest album, "The Blessed Unrest", has been highly anticipated by fans. It dropped today, and it is just what I wanted from her. More stories through music. That is where she excels. A good song is one that makes you think and one that stays on your mind for a while. This album is full of those tracks.
Here are my four favorites. I hope you enjoy.
Manhattan- This is a deeply heartbreaking song that is clearly about a break up. Perhaps the love started and blossomed in this city, because Sara sings that she is going to give Manhattan back to that person, since she can't have them anymore or that relationship.
Little Black Dress- This tune has a similar sound to some of Sara's past singles, with just a touch more jazz. I could see it hitting radio waves. It's another one of her "screw you, don't tell me what to do" songs that she does so well.
I Choose You- This is such a sweet love song. When I was reading the lyrics I literally said "aww" out loud. I hope I feel this way someday. That's my wish.
December- Kind of a downer of a song, but I relate to it so much that I had to share it. December is clearly a rough month for Sara. Maybe brings back painful memories or maybe the cold and dark are hard to get through. I definitely feel her on that, except that my month is April.
I have a long history of being a fan of Mandisa. It started when she was a contestant on American Idol. Which, as most of you know, is my favorite TV show. That was back in 2006. Mandisa caught media attention on the show because after leaving the room for her audition, Simon commented "do we have to get a bigger stage this year?". Between the taping of that show and the top 24 reveal, Mandisa saw that episode air on TV. So when she sat in front of the judges to learn her fate, she forgave Simon, saying that Jesus would do the same thing.
Mandisa has never been shy about her relationship with Jesus and her strong life as a Christian. That's one of the reasons I connect with her. She loves God and loves the blessings in her life, and she's bold enough to talk about it.
Post Idol, Mandisa's Christian music career took off. She's been extremely successful. She's been nominated for three Grammy's and six Dove awards, gone on crazy tours, and wrote a book about her experience on Idol as well as her weight and food addiction.
Ding ding ding. Reason number two why I connect with Mandisa in a major way. Food. The first time I got my hands on her book, I cried throughout nearly every chapter, because she was speaking the words I felt, I had just never known how to express them. It wasn't until I read that book that I realized I wasn't alone in my battle with weight and emotional eating.
Mandisa started a weight loss journey after writing her book, and has lost over 100 pounds since. Her music even speaks of the freedom she feels from breaking her food addiction. She has served as an inspiration to so many people, including myself. I have tried and failed the whole weight loss journey several times, but as you all know I'm back on it now, and Mandisa continues to be one of my biggest inspirations.
I have sort of a personal connection with this amazing woman, although I have not seen her in quite some time. But back in my senior year of college, I randomly got a myspace message from her. It was a response to a message I had sent her almost two years prior but had never gotten an answer. (I wasn't upset and didn't even think twice about it- I figured she was too busy. I had completely forgotten that I had even sent it). Anyways, we became fast myspace message buds. She encouraged me through some things I was really struggling with, mainly my relationship with God and trusting in his plan.
I have had the honor of meeting Mandisa four times and I can tell you she's one of the brightest, kindest people I've ever had the honor of meeting. It's been a few years, because every time she has a show in the Michigan area I can't go, but I'm still a fan.
I tell you ALL of this to tell you: she has a new single out today. And if you listen to the Christian radio stations, you've probably already heard it. But if you don't, I'll tell you about it. It's called Overcomer. Unfortunatley it's not on Youtube yet, but you can find it in Spotify (that link takes you directly to the song) if you're a spotify user and want to try the song out. You can also preview it on Itunes. Mandisa herself sent me the link to the video after she read this blog :) Here it is! Give it a listen!
So, what is the song about? Mandisa recently did an quick interview to answer that question, and she said it was for her brothers and sisters in Christ to know that they have already won their battles, of whatever it is they are going through, God is there, and now all they have to do is fight every day.
Wow.
I love that message. I need that message. We all do, I'm sure. Sometimes I get so caught up in my challenges and problems that I forget that God is there, watching me and giving me the strength to fight through it. Here are the lyrics to Mandisa's song.
Staring at a stop sign
Watching people drive by
T Mac on the radio
Got so much on your mind
Nothing's really going right
Looking for a ray of hope
Whatever it is you may be going through
I know He's not gonna let it get the best of you
You're an overcomer
Stay in the fight ‘til the final round
You're not going under
‘Cause God is holding you right now
You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it's hopeless
That's when He reminds You
That you're an overcomer
You're an overcomer
Everybody's been down
Hit the bottom, hit the ground
Oh, you're not alone
Just take a breath, don't forget
Hang on to His promises
He wants You to know
The same Man, the Great I am
The one who overcame death
Is living inside of You
So just hold tight, fix your eyes
On the one who holds your life
There's nothing He can't do
He's telling You
How inspired are you right now after reading those words and hearing that song! It's so powerful! The first time I heard it I was full of joy and strength. It's the kind of song that I'll be playing when I need a pick me up. I mean the lyrics themselves are enough to help you through a rough moment- you're an overcomer! I'm an overcomer!
Thank you, Mandisa, for this powerful song to help us when we need it.
Only 9 more days until I get to see Bruno Mars live in concert! I adore him. I remember when he first came on the scene and I immediately bought his album and listened to all his unreleased music. I was a tad obsessed. I've never seen him live, so I am ecstatic to do so next week. His music is incredible.
I'm also super excited that he's bringing Ellie Goulding out on the road with him! His two opening acts are either Fitz and the Tantrums or Ellie, and I'm a mega fan of both. The Detroit show gets Ellie.
So, to help in my excitement for the show, I'm choosing one song from each of their albums for you to enjoy as much as I do!
Ellie Goulding
Album: Lights, 2011
Song: Your Biggest Mistake
Album: Halycon, 2012
Song: I Know You Care
Bruno Mars
Album: Doo Wops and Hooligans, 2010
Song: Runaway Baby
This is one of those Tuesday's that makes my ears VERY happy, because it's a grand new music release day. Some of my favorite artists gave us treats today. I hope you give some of them a listen and let me know what you think.
Singles
Gavin DeGraw- Best I Ever Had
This man is probably my favorite male artist. I own all his music and know it by heart. He's outstanding. I was excited when he announced a new single. Best I Ever Had is pretty good. The only reason it's not GREAT is because...well...it's not that...original? It sounds very much like Train. But that's alright. I forgive Gavin and still love the song.
John Mayer- Paper Doll
Oh this dude. I have a love/hate relationship with Mr. Mayer. Musically, he's one of my favorites. Personally, I'd like to kick him in the face. His last album, which came out a year ago, flopped. Both with critics and with me. So I was excited for a new song to pull him out of that little blip. The lyrics are amazing...and people are speculating that it's about Taylor Swift with the ''22" reference and the "someone's gonna paint you another sky" (Taylor's song Dear John states "you paint me a blue sky then go back and turn it to grey). If that's the case, it kind of makes me like the song more. I love when artists respond to each other musically.
EP's
Caitlin Crosby,Save That Pillow
I was first introduced to Caitlin when she opened for Jason Castro in concert in 2010. I loved her vibe. Been waiting on new music for her since then, and now here it is. Caitlin's a really cool person. I mean, I think she is. I don't know her on a personal level or anything, but her music is really meaningful, she's got a killer voice and she works really hard. Plus she's involved with The Giving Keys, an awesome charity. Her six track EP is excellent. Favorite song is Save That Pillow.
Albums Hanson, Anthem
The first time I met my best friend Sam, she announced to myself and our other sorority sisters that she was a mega Hanson fan. We all responded with "Like....MMMBOP?". None of us had any idea that those boys were still making music. And I met Sam in the fall of 2006. Now it's 2013, and they are STILL making music! Sam introduced me to the world of Hanson and I've been addicted ever since. Yes, they are still making music, and it's amazing.
Anthem, the album that came out today, si there ELVENTH album. I realize that may shock people. You really don't hear much about Hanson unless you're in the know. But let me just assure you, each album is unique, and GOOD.
I downloaded the new album last night. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of the tune up on youtube, but I will share these two with you that I found.
I'm a mega huge fan of Lady Antebellum. Most of my friends/family know this story, but I saw them open for Martina McBride back in 2007. They didn't have an album out yet, they didn't even have a single out yet. But at that concert I turned to my friend and said "they are going to be huge". We went home and checked out the band's MySpace (yes, MySpace) page and they had a few pictures and one song uploaded. A few months later, they released a single, and then an album, and soon became mega stars.
They are incredible musicians and songwriters. I have adored every album they've put out and cheer them on at award shows, because they have worked very hard and deserve every ounce of success.
Their latest album, Golden, did not disappoint. Here are my four favorite tunes
1. All For Love
In my opinion, this is the best song on the album. It's got the drama and emotion of their number one hit "Need You Now". There is passion, and beautiful harmonies.
2. It Ain't Pretty
This is a Hilary- centric song, and it perfectly describes what us gals go through after a breakup. The bridge is chilling.
3. Better Off (Now That You're Gone)
I was excited about this song ever since the track listing for the album got leaked a few months ago. It's uptempo with a bit of a rock edge, and I can't wait to see what they do with it at a live show.
4. Downtown
I couldn't exclude the band's first single from my list. It's another uptempo tune that is rocking the country charts right now.
Are you a Lady Antebellum fan? What's your favorite song off their new album? If you're not a fan, what's your favorite song I posted here?
I accidentally fell in love with a Demi Lovato album.
If you don't know who Demi Lovato is, it's okay. I'll tell you. She came from Disney. You know, one of those Disney show actresses who also starts a music career. Most of them don't last that long, only until the next big star comes along. Demi's a little different.
She also has a pretty interesting story. In 2010, at the age of 18, she withdrew from her tour with the Jonas Brothers to enter a rehab facility. It was a bit shocking for her young fans and their parents to handle, I assume. At the time, I really didn't know who Demi was, but I remember feeling horribly for her that she was going through so much so young. I'm only a few years older than her, and having been through some rough patches myself I admired her for her bravery.
Demi left rehab a year later, and also quit doing the Disney thing. No doubt, the pressure must have been a contributing factor to her issues.
Shortly after leaving rehab, Demi released a song called "Skyscraper" a powerful, emotional tune. That was the first time I really started paying attention to her. The song really touched me, and I was again struck by her bravery.
Demi released an album a week ago, and I never really expected to like it as much as I do. But she's got this powerhouse vocal and spunky personality, matched with relatable lyrics and solid pop songs. She's like a younger Kelly Clarkson.
I picked four songs to share with you from Demi's album for Tuesday Tunes.
1. In Case
Kinda hard not to get emotional when listening to this song. It's a very real message about missing someone, and holding onto a little glimpse of hope that maybe, just maybe, they'll come back again. I think most of us feel this in those first stages of breaking away from someone.
2. Shouldn't Come Back
...Or not. This one is almost a response to In Case, saying...you know what, maybe it's a better idea if you don't come back, because every time you do, it doesn't end well.
3. I Really Don't Care
And finally, we get to the point where we really don't care about the person or that relationship anymore, and it's time to move on. This sassy tune is the perfect song for anyone in that last stage of break up grief.
4. Warrior
Demi's not afraid to tell her story, and that's exactly what this song does. You go girl.
Well, what'd you think? Share it in the comments below. And I want to know: have you ever really enjoyed an album that you didn't expect to like?
Editors note: It may seem a little...insensitive...to be posting this light hearted post after the blog I wrote last night about Oklahoma, but I drafted this up a week ago. My prayers continue for the people in that sweet state.
For those who don't know this about me: I am an American Idol fanatic. Have been since Season 1.
This was the first year ever where my two favorites landed in the finale. My favorites usually end up somewhere in the top 10, but rarely the top 2. The last time my favorite contestant won was Season 1 with The Queen, Kelly Clarkson
Kree and Candice are both fantastic singers. I was a fan of Candice last season and was absolutely shocked when she was eliminated during Hollywood Week. Kree blew me away this year at her audition. I picked those two as my favorites from the very start. I didn't care who won, except that I wanted Candice slightly more only because of her history with Idol. Congratulations to Candice, our new American Idol.
So for today's Tuesday Tunes, I thought I'd give you my 10 favorite performances of the season. As Idol viewers know, the male contestants this year did not stand a chance. The only guy I thought was eliminated too early was Paul. Other than that, the guys should have just all left at once and let us go on with the show.
10. Zoanette Johnson, The Circle of Life. Zoanette didn't make the Top 10, but her booming personality and crazy antics made me love her. This performance was the most unique performance I've ever seen on Idol and while vocally not perfect, I loved it and watched it over and over again.
9. Burnell Taylor, I'm Here. I had high hopes for Burnell in the beginning of the season. He started to bore me after a few episodes, but I loved his rendition of "I'm Here".
8. Paul Jolley, Amazed. Again, I think Paul was sent home too soon. He had some real potential.
7. Janelle, You Keep Me Hanging On. This country gal changed up the song and had quite a memorable performance.
6. Amber, What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life. I have a love/hate relationship with Amber. She relied heavily on ballads to pull her through. She's got a bit of an attitude. But she can sing. This was my favorite from her.
5. Angie, Bring Me To Life. I LOVED that she made this song her own! I think we'll be hearing a lot from Angie post Idol.
And now begins the Kree and Candice show. If I'm being totally honest, I loved every single one of their performances. But I narrowed it down to two each for the sake of this post.
4. Kree Harrison, Stars. I chose this one because it's the performance that really caught my attention during Hollywood week. I was drawn to her voice and started cheering for her.
3. Candice Glover, I Who Have Nothing. This song has been done on Idol before- and done very well. Candice's version is flawless.
2. Kree Harrison, See You Again. The emotional tribute to her parents, who have both passed away, is beautiful.
1. Candice, Lovesong. I have watched this performance about a million times, which is a sure sign that it's a favorite. One of my favorite Idol performances ever.
Are you an Idol fan? What were your favorite performances this year?
Once in a while I just like to share some tunes I'm digging. This is one of those times. My challenge for you: Pick three below that you haven't heard. Give em a listen and let me know what you think! Then tell me some of your current favorite songs!
P!nk and Nate Ruess, Just Give Me A Reason. I've owned the P!nk album since it dropped in September. And this was one of my favorite tracks on the very first listen. I literally cannot get enough of this song. It's one of those songs that I think about and have to listen to at least once a day. I know, I'm weird. But it's beautiful. Their voices blend together so well. It is sang so powerfully and passionately the words are haunting. It's the perfect song.
The Band Perry, Done. Who doesn't love an angsty country song? Does this not make you want to jump on a table and throw something at someone? The fast paced, angry tone of this song makes it a great song to belt out.
Justin Timberlake, Mirrors. Confession Time: I've never really been that big of a JT fan. I know, I know. Even in my Nsync fangirl days, I was a J.C. kinda girl. I don't own a single Justin Timberlake solo album. But I'll admit that the new one, which I've heard via my roomates, is pretty good. And this song, Mirrors, is my favorite. I love when I hear it on the radio, I love singing along. It's beautiful.
Iconca Pop, I Love It. Normally I wouldn't like this kind of song, but something about it just makes me feel like dancing, waving my arms up in the air and proclaim I DON'T CARE. It's an anthem for us 20 somethings, I believe.
Imagine Dragons, Radioactive. Big fan of this band. This song is catchy, dark, soulful and passionate.
Fall Out Boy, My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark. My inner 16 year old is in love with the fact that FOB has made a comeback! I don't think I'll ever outgrow my love for them, and I dig their new sound.
Taylor Swift, 22. When I first got my hands on Taylor's album, Red, I HATED this song. I would refuse to listen to it and skip it whenever it came on. Now? I kinda like it. Damn you, pop songs! I still hate the way she sings it (she sounds like Avirl Lavinge on drugs) but I can relate to the lyrics and I'd be lying if I said I didn't dance around to this song. Plus, I love that Tay Tay so boldy sings out "You don't know bout me".
Emeli Sande, Next To Me. I was introduced to Emeli's music a few months back via a coworker, and I'm hooked. Her album is amazing. This single is catchy and fun, her voice is wonderful. Check out her other stuff, too!
Lady Antebellum, Downtown. I'm a big fan of Lady A and have been waiting anxiously for new music from them. Downtown does not disapoint. It's one of their more upbeat singles. It's sassy and fun.
Phillip Phillips, Gone Gone Gone. I had my doubts about this guy when he was crowned Idol winner last season, but so far he's released two hit singles. This is the 2nd, and I adore it. I like the bluegrassy feel, I like the lyrics.
Sara Barielles, Brave. I could just hug Sara for writing such a powerful anthem against bullying. you go, girl.
